A Traditional Chinese Medicine & Aromatherapy Workshop in NYC
What does your sense of smell tell you about what you’re drawn to right now?
In this small-group workshop, Scented Stranger 香间旅人 × Oblique Table invite you to explore Traditional Chinese Medicine through scent, plants, and the Five Elements.
Rather than approaching Chinese medicine as something abstract, we’ll experience it through the senses — smelling botanical oils, noticing how different aromas feel, and creating a blend that reflects your own preferences.
What We’ll Explore
The Five Elements, Made Approachable
Learn about Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal, and Water and how these ideas have traditionally been connected to seasons, qualities, and balance in Chinese thought.
Follow Your Nose
Explore 8–10 botanical essential oils, including familiar plants such as ginger, lavender, peppermint, and citrus.
Blend Something Personal
Choose your favorite notes and experiment with different combinations with guidance from the instructor.
By the end of the workshop, you’ll create, name, and bottle your own 10 ml essential oil roll-on to take home.
You’ll Take Home
Your custom 10 ml essential oil roll-on
A Five Elements reflection card
A guide to the botanical oils explored during the workshop
A new way of thinking about scent, plants, and everyday sensory rituals
A Small, Beginner-Friendly Workshop
The workshop is limited to 8 guests, leaving plenty of room to ask questions, experiment, and receive individual guidance.
You don’t need any previous knowledge of Traditional Chinese Medicine, essential oils, or aromatherapy.
